The Basics of the Muscular System
I am creating this webpage as a Science project on the muscular system and it's functions. There are three types of muscles. The first is smooth muscles. The smooth muscles are involuntary and come in layers. Examples of this is the stomach, intestines, and other parts of the digestive system. They can be found all over your body. Another type of muscle is the cardiac muscle. This is basically just a general word for the heart. It is always found in your chest (obviously) and it could be classified as a smooth muscle since it is involuntary. The third type of muscle are the skeletal muscles. These muscles are voluntary, which means that they do not work or move on their own, that you have to think about using them in order for it to happen. They give your body strength, and they are usually attached to one end of a bone by means of a tendon. They can be found all over your body and are the most common type. Muscles are important because of its main function. They allow you to move (and live, in the case of the cardiac muscle). Without the muscles, you would literally just be skin and bones. Since the skeletal muscles are attached to the bones, they move with the bones when you move. For example, when you kick a soccer ball using your leg, your bones and your muscles are moving. The muscular system is one of the most important systems and there is a lot to learn about it and things related to it.
